Ireland’s Tara Oliver Donohoe and the impressive 8 yo Senators Rhonaldo clinched the first class of this year’s Somerford Park Premier League Dressage 27 – 29 May 2022. The trip from Ireland proved worthwhile for Tara taking top honours with a score of 70.68% in the Andrews Bowen Advanced Medium.
“I bought him from the UK as a yearling” said Tara “he’s a lovely big 17.3hh gentle giant. As a 4 year old he was quite spooky and I used to find it hard to get him round the arenas, we actually took him showing for a year and we did anything and everything and it made such a difference.”
The Saracen Horse Feeds Intermediate I went to seasoned campaigner Michael Eilberg and MSJ Dante VX.
Becky Moody and Jagerbomb were on top form and produced an impressive test to take the Stubben Intermediate II at Somerford Park Premier League Dressage, winning with a score of 72.99% ahead of their closest rival Lewis Carrier and Diego V on 70.49%.
“It’s his first Inter II, he’s only 8 years old, he is really young to be doing that but he’s such a cool horse and he’s game for anything,” said Becky.
Friday’s Medium went to Anne-Marie Cowan and and her 6 year old Lumiere “I have had him since he was three, completely by accident, I got him in a swap for another horse I had,” said Anne-Marie.
This was only their second Medium test today, the duo are based just outside Hartlepool and Somerford Park is their closest Premier League.
It was all smiles for Caitlin Burgess as she ended the first day of competiton at Somerford Park Premier League Dressage with a top podium spot in the Prix St Georges with her charismatic Chocotof.
“I’ve owned him for eight years, he’s very very quirky and very very naughty!” said Caitlin “but he managed to keep his cool today, but he’s so good and he knows what he’s doing.”
